You’ll recall from the first three sessions that the Bible:
1. Is designed to instruct us in righteousness so that we understand God’s plan to bring humanity to reflect
God’s image and to save us from death.
2. Is able to give us real hope for the future.
3. Can be a help in the decisions we make in daily life and provide genuine meaning to life.
We’ve also given you some tips already on reading the Bible effectively, such as:
1. Listen for Bible “echoes” where different passages refer to each other or bring up repeating ideas and
concepts.
2. Look within the Bible first for answers to questions about what the Bible says.
3. Don’t draw big conclusions from isolated passages.
Here's a fundamental principle of effective reading and learning: aim for
a regular intake of God's Word, something like fifteen to twenty minutes daily.
Over the next three sections we’ve brought together some more detailed tips on how to go
about reading the Bible under these three headings.
